Hi Brittany, I just read your post on abuse through scarymommy and I was taken back how the universe keeps throwing out little nudges showing me that I wasn't alone and that I did the right thing by sharing my experience. I left my ex-husband last year and as of last Monday our divorce finally finalized!

Thank you for sharing your story about the abuse you endured. Sounds almost exactly like my parents' marriage. I'm so sorry and I'm going to include you and your daughter in my prayers. You're so brave. As you know you're not alone - I dated a guy like this and thank goodness he overstepped and scared me enough early on to make me break things off. As soon as I did he punched a wall and I had a flicker of what I might have endured had I gotten more serious with him. A couple of years later he told me I was someone he could have seen himself marrying. Boy am I glad I didn't go there!! Narcissistic psychopaths: not on anyone's bucket list. Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend have written some amazing books to help with this sort of thing: Boundaries, Changes that Heal, Safe People, etc. Thank you again.
